Ministries

Youth Chat:
Youth Chat is our version of youth group for students grades 4-8 each Wednesday during the school year.  4th-6th grade meets after school from 3:00-4:00PM in the youth room.  7th-8th grade meets from 4:00-5:00PM in the youth room.  Starting in Fall 2012 we will have a High School Youth Group as well, and they meet from 7:00-8:00PM in the youth room.

Confirmation:
Our Confirmation class is each Wednesday during the school year (click for calendar).  Confirmation is primarily for our 9th grade students.

Sunday School:
Regular Sunday School classes begin September 18 at 8:45 a.m. for pre-school-8th grade. From 8:45-9:45 a.m. there is also an Adult Fellowship Hour with coffee (and sometimes treats!) in the Friendly Room. Invite your friends, neighbors, and family to come and have some fun with us!  Tracy Pomeroy and Leah Worke are our Sunday School Co-Superintendents and they'd love to tell you more or answer any questions you might have.

Bible Studies:
The book of Genesis - Susan Ruotsinoja leads this study at the home of Jan Samaraka (525 8th St NE). There is NO book to buy! All are welcome. Please come and delve into Genesis with us!

Coffee Groups - New for Fall 2012! - Coffee Groups are meant to be places where you study God’s Word, build relationships and pray together with 6-8 others (and drink coffee and share treats!). While Sunday worship is a key component to growing in faith, it isn’t enough to become a fully growing and functioning follower of Jesus.  Think of Sunday morning as eating a good breakfast – a great start - but you need more nutrition than just that to live to your full potential.  These groups can meet in various locations – homes, restaurants, church - wherever your group decides works best.

Ladies Friendly:
Ladies Friendly meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Ladies Friendly room (next to our kitchen in the lower level) over desert and coffee/tea.  The group of ladies is responsible for a lot of behind the scenes kind of things in our church.  The first Friday in May of each year they host an Annual Salad Luncheon and use the proceeds from that event to fund their various church improvement and philanthropic endeavors.

Men's Group:
The Men's Group meets irregularly but has a lot of fun when they get together.  They are known to do things like Meat Night, and they have recently led a canoe trek in the BWCA for father's and their children.  They have hosted events honoring the women of our church, and have served in many other capacities as needed.

Bread of Life:
First Congregational Church regularly serves at Bread of Life.  Bread of Life meals are served the first and third Thursday of each month at Grace Garage (formerly Countryside Motors) and are an opportunity for anyone needing a warm meal or a friendly face in our community to gather together and be served.

Habitat for Humanity:
Habitat for Humanity in Waseca finds its roots in our church, and we regularly work at the Habitat builds and have church members who are actively involved in leadership of our local chapter of Habitat.
